It is very unfortunate that so many people jump into a home based business without doing the proper research to see if it is the best 
home based business for them. Many times people jump in based on hype, or a product they love then they find out a few weeks down the road that they had no idea what they were REALLY getting into. It is for this reason I wrote this blog post. I aim to help those of you who are looking for a home based business see the critical factors that will tell you which is the best home based business for you.
Factor 1: The MLM Co-Founders & Corporate Team
An MLM’s co-founders can be a serious asset to a company and should be considered heavily when determining the best home based business. Since it is so easy to set up an MLM company these days we see literally dozens every year popping up on the scene then going out of business a short time later. This is partially due to lack of experience and leadership by the corporate staff. It is imperative that an MLM company have co-founders and a corporate team who not only have had success running other business but the corporate team should also consist of former MLM distributors. This way there will be someone fighting for the distributors and making sure that the company does as much as possible for them and to make sure the owners aren’t getting greedy or careless in spending..
*Key Take Away: Having an experienced and ethical corporate staff should be of high concern when evaluating the best home based business.
Factor 2: The MLM Product
Having the best MLM products can definitely help but it does not necessarily mean that you will be able to build an empire based on a product alone. For example, a friend approached me about a new company that had the best liquid vitamin ever created. That’s a pretty tall order but I did research on the product and I could not find a better liquid vitamin anywhere. I decided to get the vitamin just as a customer but then several months later the company went out of business. Imagine jumping into a company based on the product alone without doing research on the stability of the company, then building feverishly for several months just to have the plug pulled on all your efforts. It sucks! The reality is that thousands of people have gotten involved in MLM companies that had awesome products and failed miserably. Never base your decision on the MLM product alone!
*Key Take Away: Having a good product helps, but will not make a difference if you don’t know the how to build a team.
Factor 3: The MLM Comp Plan
Now we’re talking! The compensation plan is definitely an important factor in determining the best home based business. You cannot have a great MLM company without good products AND a good comp plan. Generally speaking the more lucrative the comp plan, the more leaders will be involved in that MLM company. This will ultimately help drive the company’s momentum and growth.
*Key Take Away: Even though having a highly lucrative comp plan helps, it is still not the best single factor for determining the best home based business for you.
Factor 4: The Proven System
I cannot stress this enough and it will be critical in choosing the best home based business: DOES THE COMPANY HAVE A PROVEN SYSTEM? Without one you will be stuck trying to figure it out and that will get you nowhere. The system must be simple, effective, duplicable and most importantly…IT MUST WORK!
*Key Take Away: Without a proven system in place, run for the hills!
Factor 5: Training & Mentoring
This is so important in choosing the best home based business. The MLM company must have a powerful training program that builds several of the skills that are necessary for MLM Success. Here’s the reality, if your upline leader cannot train you and get you a paycheck in your hands in 90 days or less (as long as you are coachable) then they have failed you. When they do it completely builds belief in the MLM company and creates a success story for you to share with your friends and family. This ensures everyone at least has the chance to earn income and get started right.
*Key Take Away: When choosing the best home based business always look at the training program and make sure your upline leaders are good mentors.
Factor 6: Tools and Marketing Supplies
When a new person starts an MLM company it is impossible to know every bit of info about a company and it’s products. This is why in the beginning we NEVER present the opportunity ourselves. You have to learn in the beginning to leverage the tools and resources the MLM company makes available.
*Key Take Away: If an MLM company does not have ample tools, marketing supplies and resources then it is probably not the best home based business for you.
Factor 7: Leadership
Make sure when evaluating the best home based business for you that you join with proper leadership. Leaders set the pace for the 
rest of the team. So if you have weak leaders, you’ll have a weak team. Leaders are instrumental in helping you contact, invite and ultimately enroll your prospects. Also make sure the leader isn’t so in demand that you’ll never get a hold of him/her. This can be very frustrating to want to get to work but can’t get any of your leader’s time.
Another key factor in determining leadership is can they teach you how to generate leads. Not having enough people to talk to about the business has been the death of many people who would’ve been huge in network marketing.
*Key Take Away: Does your upline leader have a proven system for generating hoards of leads for you to talk to about your business? If not, find one who does.
Countless people have struggled and failed in network marketing due to not fully researching to find the best home based business for them. Always take into consideration ALL of my 7 factors for choosing the best home based business for you and make sure all the pieces of the puzzle are there.
Here’s a scary truth that I have to come clean about. I failed in 3 MLMs that I did all the research on. I ran out of people to talk to and got zero results. I could barely afford to cover my autoship payments. I then realized that I would have to master various lead generation and marketing strategies on the internet if I really wanted to achieve success. What I found literally changed my life!
